Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA seeks a Prototype Engineer for the IC2027 program. You’ll generate CAD designs in SolidWorks, analyze structures with ANSYS, and contribute to prototype build and test with senior engineers.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 0–1 year of experience, internship with Aerospace, familiarity with design and SolidWorks, and willingness to travel ~10%. Security clearance eligibility (US citizenship) is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months).
• 0-1 year of industry work experience.
• Prior internship at The Aerospace Corporation.
• Familiarity with Mechanical Design.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks.
• Willing to travel domestically ~10% of time.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (U.S. citizenship).

Responsibilities

• Generate CAD designs and drawings using SolidWorks.
• Work with machine shop on manufacturability of designs.
• Perform structural analysis using ANSYS.
• Support senior engineers in completing more complex tasks.
• Support the build and test of prototype design.
• Create reports and presentations to share within and outside xLab.
• Responsible for assigned project completion and delivery to customer.
