Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA offers an internship conversion opportunity in the Mechanical Design and Analysis section (xLab). The selected candidate will generate CAD designs with SolidWorks, perform structural analysis using ANSYS, and assist senior engineers in prototyping and testing.

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (pursuing or recently conferred), 0–1 year of industry experience, and ability to obtain a security clearance;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
  • 0-1 year of industry work experience
  • Prior internship at The Aerospace Corporation
  • Familiarity with Mechanical Design
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks
  • Willing to travel domestically approx.10% of time.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government.
  • U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Internship conversion position for the Mechanical Design and Analysis section within xLab. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Generate CAD designs and drawings using SolidWorks

What You Need to be Successful

How You Can Stand Out
  • 1-2 years of experience in Mechanical Design
  • Familiarity with GD&T for drawing tolerancing
  • Familiarity with machining processes and welding standards
  • Familiarity with structural analysis using software such as ANSYS or NASTRAN
