Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA is offering an internship conversion position in the Propulsion Department, within the Solid Motors and Propulsion Technologies section. The selected candidate will work full-time, on-site at our facility in El Segundo.

You will assist in propulsion system evaluation, develop tools and analyses, participate in multidisciplinary reviews, and prepare reports to communicate results to program offices. Mentorship and training are provided.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Science Engineering, Physics, or related field (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
• Prior internship at The Aerospace Corporation
• 0–1 year of industry work experience
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Knowledge of propulsion, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and related engineering principles
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent analyses on deep technical challenges
• Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally ~20% of the time
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required

Responsibilities

• Assist in evaluating propulsion system design, performance and applications
• Develop and apply tools to assess propulsion systems in ground tests and flight
• Identify and mitigate hardware and interface risks
• Provide real-time support for customer tests, flights, and anomaly resolution
• Prepare reports and presentations for Aerospace program offices and other customers
