Job summary

Space Kinetic in El Segundo, CA is seeking a CAD Design Engineer to design and build prototypes of our core technology. You will finalize the current prototype CAD design with detailed tolerancing for all development phases, produce 2D drawings for manufacturing, and source components with vendors.

You will drive weight reduction by 30%, improve stiffness, and revise mechanisms to reduce vibration. The role includes adapting the prototype for future tests (air bearing, zero-g, and T-Vac) and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
• Proven experience in aerospace or mechanical engineering, specifically skilled in mechanical design and space mechanisms.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, GD&T, Space Mechanism Design, Test Structure Design, Build for Manufacturing, expertise in Vibration, Rotary Component Design, and Space Structural Design.

Responsibilities

• Design and build prototypes for Space Kinetic's core technology to achieve a flight demo within the next 2 years.
• Finalize current prototype CAD design with detailed tolerancing for all prototype development phases, and provide 2D drawings for manufacturing.
• Work with vendors to source components and enhance the prototype to reduce weight by 30% and improve stiffness.
