Job summary

MaverickX in Austin, TX is seeking a meticulous lab technician to join our protein research team under the guidance of our biologists. You will gain hands-on experience, perform experiments, and contribute to ongoing projects focused on protein research and purification.

The ideal candidate has a strong biochemistry/molecular biology background, 2+ years in a lab, experience with bacterial cultures and protein purification, and excellent record-keeping and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, or related field.
• 2+ years hands-on laboratory experience.
• Experience with protein purification techniques and relevant equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Willing to support interdisciplinary efforts.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Run agarose gel electrophoresis for DNA analysis.
• Prepare and maintain buffers, reagents, and other laboratory solutions.
• Prepare and sterilize culture media.
• Grow bacterial cultures for various experiments.
• Perform transformations.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including electrophoresis chambers, centrifuges, sterilizers, and spectrophotometers.
• Follow SOPs and ensure safety regulations.
• Author and update SOPs as needed.
• Document all experimental procedures, results, and observations meticulously.
• Collaborate with team members to optimize purification processes and troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
• Assist in ordering and inventory management of laboratory supplies.
