The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry/chemistry or related field, 2+ years lab experience, and familiarity with Opentrons, Biomek, or EpMotion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, chemistry, geochemistry, biology, or related field.
  • 2+ years hands‑on lab experience with automated liquid handling systems.
  • Experience with analytical chemistry techniques and lab equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot liquid handling robots for routine and custom assay workflows.
  • Execute high‑throughput screening experiments including sample prep and dosing treatments.
  • Perform basic instrument calibration and coordinate with vendors for service needs.
  • Follow SOPs and logs to ensure reproducibility and compliance.
  • Assist in data collection, entry, and basic analysis using spreadsheets.
  • Maintain a clean, organized lab environment and assist in inventory audits.
  • Support cross‑functional efforts to meet deadlines.
  • Follow safety protocols relevant to chemical and BSL‑2 labs.

The Team

The Applications team owns the testing and performance validation of our chemistry, responsible for both lab evaluation and field execution. It is a small, cross‑disciplinary group that works directly with technical operators to deploy, prove, and iterate on our solutions. Beyond the current field program, the team evaluates new applications for our chemical platform across the oilfield.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail‑oriented Analytical Research Associate to join our growing R&D team. In this role, you will support and operate automated liquid handling systems and high‑throughput screening workflows that are central to our discovery and development pipeline. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about analytics in the R&D space.


Core Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot liquid handling robots (e.g., Opentrons) for routine and custom assay workflows
  • Execute high‑throughput screening experiments, including sample preparation, dosing treatments and FTIR and ICP‑OES analyses
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and calibration on instrumentation, and coordinate with vendors for more complex service needs
  • Follow and contribute to the development of SOPs, protocols, and logs to ensure reproducibility and compliance
  • Assist in data collection, entry, and basic analysis using spreadsheets
  • Contribute to and maintain a clean and organized working environment
  • Assist in inventory audits and ordering for the laboratory
  • Support cross‑functional efforts to help the technical team meet deadlines
  • Follow safety protocols relevant to chemical and BSL-2 laboratories
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, chemistry , geochemistry, biology, or a related field
  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience in a laboratory setting, with preferred experience using automated liquid handling systems such as Opentrons, Beckman Coulter Biomek, or Eppendorf epMotion
  • Experience in analytical chemistry techniques and relevant laboratory equipment
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • A propensity for data integrity and precision work
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with various audiences (technical and nontechnical)
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures
  • Experience with microsoft office suite and google suite
  • Willing to travel to other company sites as needed (up to 10% of the time)
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, reach overhead, and stand for extended periods of time with reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in a BSL-2 laboratory and with hazardous materials (previous experience preferred)
