Job summary

Helix BioStructures, LLC is seeking a scientist focused on protein production to join our Indianapolis team. You will express and purify recombinant proteins in bacterial, insect, and mammalian systems and perform biophysical characterization to assess quality and stability.

The role involves developing and optimizing expression/purification protocols, interfacing with clients, and producing high-quality, well-characterized protein reagents.

Qualifications

• Experience in recombinant protein expression and purification across bacterial, insect, and mammalian cell lines.
• Hands-on experience with SDS-PAGE, SEC, Western blot, TSA, DLS, and MS for assessing protein quality.
• Ability to generate milligram to gram quantities of high-quality protein reagents for downstream studies.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with protein construct engineering and optimizing production for structural/functional studies.

Responsibilities

• Express and purify proteins to target quality and yield within industrial time frames.
• Document experimental data and communicate progress with clients/project teams.
• Provide scientific input to project teams and mentor other team members.
• Report project statuses to supervisor and customers via formal reports and presentations.
• Contribute to improving expression/purification methods for faster discovery.
