Job summary

Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) seeks a strong, team-oriented Meter Relay Technician or Trainee to install, test and commission, troubleshoot and maintain protective relaying systems and related equipment for reliable service.

The role requires completion of a three-year electrical apprenticeship or equivalent utility experience, a high school diploma or GED, and may prefer a Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Meter Relay Trainee: completed a three-year state-approved electrical apprenticeship or equivalent Electric Utility experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and commission meters and relays; review drawings and make field corrections.
• Test and calibrate relays, meters, transformers; record results and maintain equipment records.
• Develop and document test plans and procedures; read electrical drawings and schematics.
• Lead or assist in safe crew planning, tailboard discussions and job cost estimates.
