Job summary

U.S. Electrical Testing seeks a skilled technician to install, program, test, and maintain protective relaying and metering systems in transmission and distribution operations.

You will diagnose issues, interpret schematics, and coordinate repairs to ensure reliability and safety. Travel up to 25–75% domestically/internationally; collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients. 2+ years electrical experience required; NETA/NICET preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant electrical experience with a high school diploma OR associate degree or bachelor’s degree in related field
• NETA / NICET certification (preferred) or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical testing
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
• Proficiency in operating protective relays, circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and related equipment
• Experience with test equipment such as Doble, Omicron, Megger, Vanguard, and Fluke meters

Responsibilities

• Programs, installs and maintains protective relaying and metering
• Performs electrical tests and repairs for relays in service to prevent failures
• Uses test equipment in energized electrical rooms, vaults, and substations
• Interprets schematics and wiring diagrams to locate defective equipment
• Commissioning of new relay and metering installations
• Coordinates testing and repairs with other departments
• Maintains test reports and documentation for compliance
