Job summary

PacifiCorp in Evanston, WY is seeking a Relay Technician Trainee to gain hands-on experience in substation protection, control, and metering systems. You will participate in training schools, work under experienced technicians, and build records of outages and equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, or proof of equivalent.
• Certification in an electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent program.
• Demonstrated ability to manage workload and use computerized test program.
• Basic computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Internet).
• Candidate must have good driving record.
• Must be able to obtain a CDL.
• Strong ability to follow safety polities and procedures.
• Pass the Relay Technician Trainee pool entrance exam with a minimum score of 80% (provided by company).
• Must be a journeyman with three years journeyman experience in one of the listed crafts.

Responsibilities

• Attend technician training schools and complete coursework for the Relay Technician Trainee program.
• Assist and complete work under supervision of Relay Technicians.
• Keep records of work performed, outages, and equipment records.
• Perform diagnostic testing of substation equipment including power factor and transformer turns ratio testing.
• Gain experience operating substation equipment including switching and grounding under safety protocols.
• May be assigned duties of less complexity as needed.
