Job summary

Electric Power Engineers is seeking an experienced Protection & Controls Engineering Manager to lead P&C engineering across EPC and private-client projects, including substations, data centers and large facilities. You will develop and review protection philosophies, relay settings and coordination, while guiding a growing P&C team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• PE license is required and active.
• 10+ years in protection and control engineering, consulting/EPC/detailed design.
• Strong substation P&C design and protective relay experience.
• Experience with protection tools and relay software such as ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, Powerbase, SEL Quickset, GE Enervista.
• Experience developing and reviewing complete P&C design packages from conceptual through IFC.
• Strong relay settings, coordination, and fault studies knowledge.
• Ability to lead and mentor engineers and designers across multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent client-facing communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead P&C engineering and design for EPC and private-client projects, including substations and large facilities.
• Develop and review P&C drawing packages (one-lines, three-lines, schematics, relays, wiring).
• Develop and review protection philosophies for transformers, buses, feeders, lines and generators.
• Develop protective relay settings and coordination.
• Perform short-circuit, equipment-duty and coordination studies.
• Coordinate P&C with other engineering disciplines and with EPC contractors.
• Lead technical coordination with clients, vendors, utilities to resolve interfaces.
• Ensure P&C designs meet IEEE/ANSI/NERC requirements.
• Review vendor drawings for relays, control panels, switchgear, transformers.
• Support construction, testing, commissioning and energization; review field issues.
