Job summary

Qualus invites you to join its University Engineering Boot Camp as a Protection & Control Engineer, a full-time Engineer I role paired with a structured training program to accelerate growth in the power industry.

As a participant, you will work on protection & control design packages, CAD drafting, and substation safety training, with a trajectory toward becoming a full-time employee at Qualus.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school with a focus on power systems.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Microsoft Office product application.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation (a plus).
• Educational experience directly related to working with medium to high voltage electricity (preferred).
• Must have the ability to work independently, and accurately, and have high attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Substation Design Engineers, Relay Settings Engineers, and other groups to ensure design concurrence.
• Development of complete engineering design packages for protective relaying and communication systems, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, control house layouts, wiring/connection diagrams, interconnection diagrams, relaying equipment specifications and bill of materials.
• Working on project teams supporting all quality and project management goals.
• Meeting all project deadlines and supporting the processes and procedures to meet deadlines.
• Maintaining up-to-date technical skills related to the design of electrical substations and protection and control schematics for the electric utility power grid through on-the-job work and formal training.
• Substation awareness and Safety consciousness.
