Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an electrical technician to perform installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of protection and control devices across station systems. You will work under supervision to ensure reliable power delivery and fast restoration when needed.

You will assist with troubleshooting, data retrieval, and documentation while following safety and regulatory requirements, including NERC practices.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent education in electrical technology.
• Experience with electrical protection and control devices is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in acceptance and installation tests of protection, control, and measurement devices in stations.
• Test protection and control devices on a schedule and as required.
• Calibrate devices and diagnose mis-operation or damage to support repair actions.
• Operate data collection and testing equipment to retrieve data from protection and control devices.
• Maintain test and automotive equipment in good working order for safe operation.
