Job summary

Hanger Clinic in Birmingham, Alabama seeks a Prosthetist and/or Orthotist Clinician (CPO, Board Eligible) to deliver comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care. You will assess patients, design, fabricate, fit devices, and coordinate with physicians and therapists to improve mobility and quality of life.

Qualifications

• Board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics (ABC/BOC) or eligibility.
• Bachelor’s degree in prosthetics/orthotics or foreign equivalent with ABC eligibility.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to obtain state licensure where required.
• Willingness to treat patients in one discipline while training in the other.
• Past experience under supervision if not board-certified.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians to evaluate prosthetic/orthotic needs and options.
• Examine and evaluate patient needs related to disease and functional loss.
• Design prosthetic/orthotic devices and plan layouts.
• Take cast measurements, modify models, and select materials.
• Perform fitting with static and dynamic alignments.
• Provide follow-up care with patients and physicians.
• Mentor residents or newly certified clinicians.
• Maintain detailed clinical notes in patient records.
• Adhere to Medicare/OSHA regulations and safety standards.
• May be on-call or float between multiple clinic locations.
