Job summary

Blue Origin Engines is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to own the design of auxiliary and driveline systems for large-scale turbomachinery. You will deliver drawings, 3D models, and specifications, applying GD&T and tolerance analysis while collaborating with vendors and cross‑functional teams.

Required are a mechanical engineering degree and 5+ years of rotating equipment design, with NX/Creo and Windchill experience. Relocation and travel up to 20% may be involved.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design of rotating equipment or drivetrain hardware.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (NX, Creo, or equivalent) and engineering drawing release.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
  • Ownership of hardware through at least one complete design, build, and test cycle.
  • Experience working in cross‑disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Track record of ownership and delivering results.

Responsibilities

  • Own the mechanical design of the auxiliary and driveline systems for turbomachinery development and testing.
  • Lead driveline architecture trades and document decisions.
  • Create and release drawings, 3D models, and specs in CAD and PLM systems (Windchill) with GD&T.
  • Perform tolerance stackups and alignment analysis for rotating equipment trains.
  • Integrate bearing systems into driveline design and collaborate with bearing experts.
  • Serve as interface to external vendors and manage interface control documents.
  • Coordinate with turbomachinery team on rotordynamics and loads.
