Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is offering a Summer Internship in the COLUMBIA Design & Engineering program. You will work 40 hours/week for 8 weeks in Groton CT or New London CT, supporting design and engineering activities under senior mentorship.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an Engineering degree (any discipline) and have strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. US citizenship and successful medical screening are required.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled full-time in college or university.
• Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters in Construction, Manufacturing, Engineering Management, Naval Architecture or any Engineering discipline.
• Must be 18+ and US citizen, able to pass drug screening and background check.
• Available for 40 hours/week for 8 consecutive weeks between May 2027–Sept 2027.
• Must arrange housing and transportation for the internship duration.

Responsibilities

• Assist program management tasks including manpower planning and oversight.
• Support ships and key-supplier contracts oversight and execution.
• Contribute to engineered component development and procurement.
• Coordinate life-cycle and design planning products.
• Engage with systems, planning, contracts, and purchasing teams.
• Collaborate across Electric Boat functional areas and senior mentors.
