Job summary

Peoples' Self Help Housing Corporation is seeking a dedicated staff member to support housing operations across multiple sites in California. The role handles tenant applications, annual re-certifications, rent collections, and file maintenance while assisting with audits and repairs.

You will coordinate with maintenance and portfolio teams, manage records, and help ensure safety and cleanliness in common areas. Bilingual ability is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• General computer literacy.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish may be required and is highly preferred.
• Ability to provide professional and courteous customer service.
• Works collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines autonomously.
• Valid CA driver's license and auto insurance.
• Experience in an office environment and using standard office equipment.
• Experience in affordable housing property management preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary and client information.
• Light lifting and ability to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance at our larger sites and fill in during site manager absences.
• Process tenant applications, including annual re-certifications and enforce lease terms.
• Review and prepare for audits.
• Assign tasks and review time cards for key holders.
• Collect rents and maintain tenant and unit files per regulations.
• Perform move-in inspections with tenants.
• Review lease and house rules with new tenants and instruct on appliances.
• Perform move-out inspections with Portfolio Manager and/or Maintenance Manager.
• Coordinate re-keying of front door locks.
• Process security deposit refunds promptly.
• Coordinate repairs and ensure unit can be re-rented quickly.
• Assist with periodic inspections.
• Process accounts payable weekly.
• Attend training to stay current with required certifications.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports; work within the operating budget.
• Process work orders and track preventive maintenance.
• Monitor community spaces for cleanliness and safety.
• Maintain keys and assist tenants with lockouts.
• Support cultural and national celebrations and community events.
• Help coordinate self-sufficiency tenant programs with other departments.
• Be prepared for emergencies with mapping of utilities and exit routes.
