EHDOC is seeking a Maintenance Worker for our Chicago community. You will perform routine and preventive maintenance, respond to requests promptly, assist with turnover preparations, and help keep common areas safe and functional.

Responsibilities include plumbing, electrical, painting, and janitorial tasks, with on-site duties, safety compliance, and effective communication with supervisors and residents. Prior building maintenance experience is required.

Qualifications

• Basic universal license required or obtainable within first year.
• Hands-on knowledge of building maintenance (plumbing, electrical, painting, janitorial).
• Minimum three years of building maintenance experience.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently.
• Good verbal and written communication in the property's predominant language.
• Understand needs of elderly and handicapped residents.

Responsabilités

• Handle routine maintenance projects as scheduled by Supervisor.
• Participate in preventative maintenance programs and keep records.
• Respond to maintenance requests within 24 hours or escalate as needed.
• Respond to emergencies immediately and use call-back system when required.
• Be part of weekend/after-hours/holiday rotation for on-site coverage.
• Participate in safety programs and evacuation procedures.
• Maintain equipment per manufacturer manuals and secure property in emergencies.
• Keep storage areas neat, lit, and locked.
• Perform electrical repairs on appliances, fixtures, outlets, switches, etc.
• Perform plumbing maintenance on drains, leaks, toilets, fixtures.
• Prepare units for turnover including painting and repairs for occupancy timelines.
• Paint common areas as required.
• Assist in inventory control and source parts to support maintenance needs.
• Maintain grounds and common areas to be hazard-free and litter-free.
