Job summary

Somerset Pacific in Baton Rouge, LA is hiring a Maintenance Technician to keep the apartment community safe, functional and well maintained. You will perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, appliance repairs, and make-ready tasks for vacant apartments, while providing courteous service to residents.

You'll work on-site, handle preventive maintenance, inspect equipment, manage tools and supplies, and coordinate with vendors.

Qualifications

• Experience in apartment, residential, commercial, or general maintenance preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and appliance repair preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and prioritize service requests.

Responsibilities

• Complete resident maintenance service requests accurately and timely.
• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents through make-ready.
• Perform basic plumbing repairs and replace washers/seals.
• Perform minor electrical work excluding licensed electricians.
• Assist with carpentry and general repairs.
• Paint, stain, and prep surfaces as needed.
• Troubleshoot appliances and perform basic repairs.
• Repair or replace flooring and window coverings as needed.
• Schedule and complete preventive maintenance.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory.
• Assist with outside vendors and contractors as needed.
• Perform groundskeeping duties as applicable.
• Install and repair sprinkler components as needed.
• Inspect HVAC-related equipment and fire extinguishers.
• Maintain pool/spa areas where applicable.
• Report safety concerns to Community Manager.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies.
• Interact professionally with residents and staff.
• Complete additional maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Participate in after-hours/on-call maintenance rotation.
