Job summary

Birge & Held is seeking a Service Technician II in Indianapolis to maintain the community’s physical assets, perform repairs across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and grounds, and ensure timely work orders. The role reports to the Operations Manager and requires coordination with maintenance teams.

You will inspect, repair, and maintain units and common areas, handle on-call emergencies, and contribute to a high-quality resident experience in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Two years of apartment maintenance, construction, or related field.
  • EPA refrigerant handling certification required or willingness to obtain.
  • HVAC certification preferred.
  • Travel between properties may be required; valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Provide own hand tools including power drills, impacts, and non-powered tools.
  • Ability to operate all necessary tools to perform essential functions.
  • Residential property maintenance experience is beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and environmental safety standards.
  • Self-motivated with task completion and cost-conscious purchasing skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure maintenance, functionality, and appearance of community assets.
  • Inspect buildings and common areas for cleanliness, safety, and appeal.
  • Repair HVAC units, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Complete work orders promptly and provide progress updates.
  • Manage grounds and oversee day-to-day maintenance of properties.
  • Complete required forms and reports; participate in related duties.
