Job summary

Essex Property Trust, Inc. is seeking a Porter to maintain grounds and common areas at one or more Los Angeles properties. The role involves keeping exteriors, lobbies, and amenities clean, stocked, and safe for residents.

You will interact with residents professionally, handle seasonal tasks, and report issues to supervisors. A high school diploma or GED and custodial experience are preferred; on-site, five-day workweek with some weekend coverage. Must read/write/speak English.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Some custodial or general maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to utilize a personal smart device for apps related to property operations and communication.
• Comfortable with basic computer tasks, including using Microsoft Office programs like Outlook emails.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness of the property’s exterior areas, including sidewalks, parking lots, courtyards, and landscaping.
• Clean and maintain all common areas, including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, laundry rooms, fitness centers, and restrooms.
• Ensure common areas are stocked with necessary supplies (toilet paper, soap, towels).
• Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors/managers.
• Interact with residents and visitors in a friendly, professional manner and assist residents as needed.
• Perform seasonal tasks (snow/ice removal, leaf blowing, pressure washing).
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE; assist with trash removal and recycling; may travel between locations.
