Job summary

AXA XL in the United States seeks a Facility Underwriter for Automatic Property Facultative Reinsurance to underwrite new and renewal auto-property facultative business, maintain broker relationships, and support strategic marketing initiatives.

The role reports to the Property Automatic Facultative Division Manager and requires strong underwriting, analytical, and communication skills with a focus on quality service.

Qualifications

• Underwriting experience, preferably in Property and Inland Marine lines.
• Exposure to the insurance industry, with commercial property insurance experience preferred.
• Reinsurance experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of underwriting structures, rating methodologies, and policy rating systems.
• Familiarity with insurance policy language and contract wording.
• Mathematical and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business systems.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to apply analytical and quantitative thinking.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative approach and commitment to quality and excellence.
• Data entry and information management skills with a focus on accuracy

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal automatic property facultative and inland marine agreements.
• Maintain client/broker contacts and relationships as appropriate.
• Contribute to hybrid facultative audit process as appropriate.
• Manage expenditures in coordination with Division Manager.
• Contribute to annual personal P&D plan with Property Fac leadership.
• Support risk division training and new hire onboarding as appropriate.
• Underwrite terms, establish pricing, and review account information.
• Aim for satisfactory internal/external audit results by following guidelines.
• Communicate with underwriting, actuarial, legal, claims staff to ensure profitability.
• Maintain and service a book of business; participate in broker/client visits and marketing activities.
• Participate in strategic planning of business development and market identification.
