Job summary

Hereford Insurance Company in New York seeks an experienced claims adjuster specializing in auto property damage. You will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve assigned claims, including suits, in line with Regulation 64 and applicable laws.

The role requires handling statements, determining liability, valuing damages, reserving, subrogation, and communicating with insureds to ensure satisfaction. One year of relevant experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Regulation 64 and the Vehicle and Traffic Laws (VTL).
• Understand liability and comparative negligence and how to apply it.
• Proficient in handling auto property damage claims.
• One-year experience investigating and negotiating comparative negligence auto property damage claims.

Responsibilities

• Initiate the relevant investigation required upon receipt of new losses
• Obtain statements from all parties involved, either written or verbal
• Make coverage and liability determinations based on appropriate investigation
• Ensure proper evaluation, valuation of damages, and reserving of assigned claims
• Review estimates, complete total loss valuations
• Handle property damage related subrogation matters
• Negotiate with insureds and claimants, or their legal representatives
• Communicate with all clients to achieve optimal customer satisfaction while in compliance with Regulation 64
• Document all activities on the claims notepad
• Maintain a diary on all files
• Adhere to HIC policy and procedures
• Follow supervisory instruction
