Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a Service Manager to oversee safe installation, maintenance, and repair of propane systems at Sharp customer locations within the service area. You will train field technicians, ensure credentials, and coordinate in-field service while upholding safety codes.

The role requires strong leadership, customer communication, and the ability to manage parts, payroll reviews, and vendor relationships.

Qualifications

• Five years of propane or related business experience.
• Experience installing, repairing, and maintaining propane systems and appliances.
• CDL Class B with HAZMAT or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• CETP certification levels 1.0, 2.2, 3.1–3.5, 4.1–4.2 within 12 months.
• NFPA 58 and NFPA 54 knowledge; comply with local codes.
• Strong customer, supervisory, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Trains field technicians in repairing, installing, and maintaining propane systems.
• Ensures technicians have necessary credentials for tasks.
• Coordinates field service by assigning work orders and providing technical support.
• Manages parts and inventories; orders equipment just-in-time.
• Communicates with customers regarding service, scheduling, and invoicing.
• Reviews payroll items for direct reports; evaluates work orders for accuracy.
• Inspects completed jobs for code compliance and quality.
• Sets expectations and reviews performance of direct reports.
• Develops and manages relationships with third-party contractors.
