Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation seeks a Service Manager in Newark, DE to oversee the retail propane Service Department within an assigned area. You will lead the department, recruit and manage contractors, and ensure safe operations while meeting customer expectations.

Responsibilities include staff scheduling, field service involvement, payroll review, billing, budgeting, and maintaining equipment and parts. A strong supervisory and technical background in propane is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of related experience.
• PC experience mandatory; management experience necessary.
• Excellent customer contact, supervisory, organizational, and communication skills.
• Technical propane appliance and equipment installation expertise.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals; write routine reports.
• Microsoft Word and Excel skills; intermediate Windows proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervises all employees in the Service Department.
• Provide efficient use of service department personnel and equipment through scheduling and customer billing.
• Prepare work orders as needed; prepare job costing estimates as needed.
• Schedule service personnel to meet customer expectations; perform field service work as required.
• Participate in on-call rotation; manage contractors to maximize profitability and service.
• Recruit and maintain list of qualified contractors; review completed work orders for accuracy.
• Inspect completed jobs for quality; ensure training on Company policies and procedures.
• Monitor and evaluate department personnel performance; review payroll and pricing.
• Maintain parts inventory; prepare purchase requisitions and initiate orders for stock.
• Participate in budgeting and other duties as assigned by the District Manager.
