Job summary

The Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a Service Manager in Newark, DE to oversee the retail propane Service Department within Sharp Energy operations. You will lead the department’s workforce, schedule work, recruit qualified contractors, manage safety and training, and ensure customer satisfaction and accurate billing.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of related experience.
• PC experience mandatory; management experience required.
• Strong customer contact, supervisory, organizational, and communication skills.
• Technical expertise with propane appliances and equipment installation.
• Ability to read and interpret documents; basic math and spatial reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise all employees in the Service Department.
• Provide efficient use of service department personnel and equipment through scheduling and billing.
• Prepare work orders and job costing estimates.
• Schedule service personnel to meet customer expectations.
• Perform field service work as required.
• Participate in on-call rotation as required by the district manager.
• Manage contractors to maximize profitability and customer service.
• Recruit and maintain a list of qualified contractors for service work.
• Review completed work orders for accuracy and quality control.
• Maintain parts inventory and initiate purchase orders.
