Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants seeks an Associate Project or Project Technical Editor to join the Technical Publications team and support offices throughout the company, with emphasis on the Great Basin subregion. You will edit and format scientific documents and proposals to meet SWCA and client standards.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years (Associate) or 4 years (Project) of editing experience, a science background is desirable, and strong Word/Acrobat skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Three (3) years of technical editing experience.
• Science background and/or knowledge of environmental consulting, biological sciences, or cultural resources is highly desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Track Changes and Styles; experience with Excel and collaborative editing platforms.
• Experience with Microsoft Teams and Outlook for workplace communication.

Responsibilities

• Leads and coordinates project efforts from conception through delivery, setting goals, timelines, and standards.
• Edit technical documents for clarity, coherence, consistency, and SWCA standards.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate content, design, and technical accuracy across deliverables.
• Develops and implements project-specific style guides and editing protocols.
• Mentor and guide junior staff, sharing knowledge and improving skills.
• Innovate editing processes and tools to improve efficiency and quality.
• Manage multiple editing assignments, prioritizing to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Provide feedback on complex technical documents ensuring accuracy and alignment with goals.
• Follow applicable regulations, standards, and specifications.
• Performs related work as assigned.
