Job summary

M. J. Electric, LLC, a Quanta Services company, is seeking a Project Manager to lead transmission and substation foundation construction projects.

You will supervise and coordinate project management from pre-planning through construction completion, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery. You will manage budgets, prepare proposals, interfaces with clients and unions, and mentor field teams across a broad geographic area.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• 4-7 years of Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management or related experience in the utility construction industry.
• Experience with union jurisdiction and labor agreements.
• Foundation construction (substation, and transmission line) expertise is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day oversight, management and administration of the company’s safety management system.
• Oversee construction activity to ensure projects are built in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
• Interface with owner/client and on-site crews to meet safety, quality and milestones.
• Learn and apply MJE Project Management standards and best practices to all aspects of work.
• Track, report and manage work via the PCRS system.
• Prepare proposals and estimates, including drawing take-offs for foundation construction.
• Forecast and report on project profitability while managing budget.
• Coordinate job setup to incorporate safety, scheduling, document control, cost codes and billing.
• Plan performance adjustments to stay on budget and schedule.
• Interface with client/owner representatives, IBEW union members and subcontractors.
• Provide leadership to field employees and manage field work.
• Communicate project expectations and status to field staff and clients.
• Coordinate with purchasing on material orders and submittals.
• Provide weekly updates to senior management.
• Quote change orders and process accordingly.
• Ensure resources to maintain schedule, budget and safety.
