Job summary

M. J. Electric, LLC, a Quanta Services company, seeks a Substation Project Manager to lead electrical utility construction projects from pre-planning to delivery. You will supervise field crews, manage safety, schedule, cost control and client communication to ensure on-time, on-budget completion.

Responsibilities include project controls, proposal preparation, and coordination with owners, IAM/IBEW members, and subcontractors across a wide geographic area. Extensive travel is expected.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field preferred.
• 3-5 years of Project Management or construction management experience in utility construction.
• Experience with union jurisdiction and labor agreements.
• Experience in electrical utility construction (distribution, substation, transmission line) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safety management system and daily project oversight.
• Coordinate construction activities to meet design, budget, and schedule.
• Interface with owner/client, on-site crews, and subcontractors to ensure safety and milestones.
• Apply MJE project management standards and report through PCRS.
• Prepare proposals and estimates, including drawings take-offs.
• Forecast project profitability and manage project budget.
• Manage all aspects of job setup including safety, scheduling, cost codes, and billing.
