Project Manager – Mechanical Contracting (HVAC/Plumbing)
Location: Hampton Roads / Richmond, VA (On-site)
Compensation: $90,000 – $140,000 + benefits

About the Opportunity
Omni Staffing is partnering with a long-established, full-service mechanical contractor in Virginia to hire experienced Project Managers. The company builds HVAC, plumbing, and process piping systems for healthcare facilities, large commercial buildings, government and institutional projects, and industrial and manufacturing clients. It has in-house engineering, preconstruction, and fabrication capabilities.
This is a strong fit for a mechanical PM who wants to run meaningful projects with a stable, well-respected contractor that has a deep backlog and a reputation for doing things the right way.
What You'll Do
- Manage mechanical projects from award through closeout, owning scope, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction
- Lead buyout of equipment, materials, and subcontractors; issue purchase orders and subcontracts
- Track costs, forecast labor and material, and own project P&L
- Price, negotiate, and manage change orders
- Manage submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and coordination with engineers and design teams
- Coordinate with field supervision and foremen on manpower, sequencing, and logistics
- Work with in-house fabrication and detailing teams to keep material flowing to the field
- Build and maintain schedules, and coordinate with general contractors and owners to hit milestones
- Run project meetings and serve as the main point of contact for GCs, owners, and engineers
- Support estimating and preconstruction on new pursuits as needed
- Drive closeout, including punch lists, O&M manuals, as-builts, and warranty documentation
- Promote a strong safety culture on every project
What You Bring
- 5+ years of project management experience with a mechanical contractor (HVAC, plumbing, and/or process piping)
- Experience managing commercial, healthcare, institutional, government, or industrial projects
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction documents, and specifications
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and change orders
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with GCs, owners, and field teams
- Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred (equivalent field experience considered)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software (Procore or similar a plus)
Nice to Have
- Background in the field (pipefitter, plumber, HVAC tech) before moving into project management
- Estimating experience
- Experience with design-build or design-assist projects
- Industrial or process piping project experience
