Job summary

Accounting Search is seeking a Project Manager for NCDOT work in the Charlotte market and across central North Carolina. You will run NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects from preconstruction through closeout, leading field teams and coordinating with owners, engineers and inspectors.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years as PM of record on heavy civil projects with proven cost control, scheduling, and change orders, plus direct NCDOT experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as PM of record on heavy civil, highway, bridge or utility work for a contractor.
• Documented NCDOT project experience as the PM is required.
• Candidate has run projects from start to finish; not suitable for an APM/Engineer role.
• Contractor-side background; consultant/inspection only not suitable.

Responsibilities

• Run NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects as PM of record, from preconstruction through closeout.
• Own budget, schedule, cost reports, forecasting and margin on each job.
• Submit cost and income projections and act on variances early.
• Lead superintendents, field engineers and subcontractors to hit production, quality and safety.
• Serve as main contact for NCDOT, owners, engineers, inspectors and vendors.
• Issue subcontracts and purchase orders and manage subcontractor performance.
• Handle change orders, pay estimates, submittals, claims and contract documentation.
• Run weekly project meetings on schedule and cost, and report to leadership.
• Work with estimating on bids and handoff so the job starts right.
• Maintain a strong safety culture on every site.
