Job description

Project Manager - Bridge Construction / Heavy Civil

Denver, CO | \$100,000-\$130,000 salary
Schedule: Full-time | Onsite / Field-Based

About the Opportunity
We’re partnering with a growing heavy civil contractor in the Denver market that is looking for a Project Manager with real bridge construction experience. This role is built for someone who has managed DOT bridge work, understands field coordination, and knows how to keep complex infrastructure projects moving safely, profitably, and on schedule.

This is a strong fit for a PM who enjoys bridge, roadway, structural concrete, DOT, and public infrastructure projects and wants more ownership over the work. You’ll partner closely with Superintendents, Project Engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and public-sector clients while managing projects from startup through closeout.

They’re looking for someone with 5+ years of heavy civil project management experience, CDOT experience, and a strong background managing bridge construction projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage and oversee 1-4 heavy civil and bridge projects depending on size, scope, and complexity.
  • Lead bridge and infrastructure projects from startup through closeout.
  • Work closely with Superintendents to plan field operations, manpower, milestones, sequencing, and weekly project priorities.
  • Manage project schedules and stay ahead of delays, access issues, material needs, subcontractor coordination, and field challenges.
  • Build strong relationships with CDOT, public-sector clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners.
  • Partner with the Safety Manager and field teams to maintain safe jobsites and enforce company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Manage project financials, including job cost tracking, billing, change orders, forecasting, budget updates, and cost controls.
  • Identify negative project trends early, including extended rentals, back-charges, budget fade, schedule delays, and scope gaps.
  • Process RFIs, distribute updated plans and approved shop drawings, and maintain strong project documentation.
  • Prepare scopes of work for subcontractor and purchase agreements.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to stay ahead of upcoming labor, equipment, material, and schedule needs.
  • Assist with estimating and pricing change orders for active bridge and heavy civil projects.
  • Maintain frequent communication with Superintendents and help guide field efforts to keep work efficient and organized.
  • Support Project Engineers and potentially other project team members as needed.

What They’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of project management experience in heavy civil construction required.
  • Bridge construction experience required.
  • CDOT project experience required.
  • Experience managing DOT, roadway, bridge, structural concrete, or public infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of project budgets, job costing, cost reporting, billing, and change order management.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, technical procedures, contracts, and government regulations.
  • Experience developing, updating, and maintaining CPM schedules using MS Project and/or Primavera.
  • Strong documentation, recordkeeping, and communication skills.
  • Ability to write RFIs, reports, business correspondence, and project documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and email.
  • Viewpoint experience preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Current driver’s license required.

Why You’ll Want This Role
This is a strong opportunity for a Project Manager who wants to stay close to bridge and infrastructure work instead of getting buried in corporate layers. You’ll have real ownership over projects, work directly with field leadership, and manage visible public-sector construction work throughout the Denver market.

You’ll also get a competitive salary, strong benefits, a company vehicle, and a streamlined interview process with a company that values PMs who can communicate, solve problems, and keep projects moving.

Benefits

  • \$100,000-\$130,000 salary depending on experience
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 100% of premiums paid by the company for salaried employees
  • Life Insurance paid 100% by the company
  • 401(k) matching
  • PTO / FTO
  • Company vehicle
  • Strong bridge and heavy civil project pipeline
  • One-and-done interview process
