Job summary

MOHR Talent is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager in Denver to lead bridge, roadway, and transportation projects. You will own complex projects from startup to closeout, balancing schedule, budget, subcontractors, field operations, client relationships, change orders, and profitability.

The ideal candidate has CDOT/DOT and bridge construction experience, with leadership skills to manage PMs and engineers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience in heavy civil construction.
  • CDOT project experience required.
  • Bridge construction experience required.
  • DOT transportation infrastructure experience required.
  • Strong understanding of budgets, job costing, forecasting, billing, and change-order management.
  • Experience developing CPM construction schedules.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, specifications, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage approximately 1–4 heavy civil construction projects depending on size and complexity.
  • Lead and support Project Engineers and other Project Managers.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents to maintain field operations and schedules.
  • Oversee project financials: job costs, forecasting, billing, change orders, and invoicing.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure safety and regulatory compliance with OSHA guidelines.

What Youll Do
  • Manage approximately 1–4 heavy civil construction projects depending on project size and complexity.
  • Lead and support Project Engineers and potentially other Project Managers.
  • Partner closely with Superintendents to keep field operations, manpower, milestones, and schedules on track.
  • Manage project financial performance including:
    • Job cost tracking and control
    • Monthly financial forecasting
    • Billing
    • Change-order management
    • Invoice coding
    • Budget monitoring
  • Identify potential negative project trends such as budget fade, extended equipment rentals, back-charges, schedule impacts, and cost overruns before they become larger issues.
  • Develop, update, and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, manpower, and upcoming project needs.
  • Prepare scopes of work for subcontractor and purchase agreements.
  • Process RFIs and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Distribute current plans, drawings, specifications, and approved shop drawings to project teams.
  • Assist with estimating and prepare pricing for project change orders.
  • Manage timely project startup and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project partners.
  • Work closely with the Safety Manager and Superintendent to maintain a safe project environment and ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA requirements.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience in heavy civil construction required.
  • CDOT project experience required.
  • Bridge construction experience required.
  • Previous DOT transportation infrastructure experience required.
  • Strong understanding of project budgets, job costing, forecasting, billing, and change-order management.
  • Experience developing and maintaining CPM construction schedules.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, specifications, technical procedures, and governmental requirements.
  • Strong understanding of RFIs, submittals, project documentation, and recordkeeping.
  • Strong communication skills with Superintendents, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and email.
  • Experience with Viewpoint is preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Current driver's license required.
