Job description

Location: Dallas–Fort Worth, TX (on-site at project locations)

Base Salary: $125,000–$150,000, based on experience

Legacy Placement Partners is recruiting a Project Manager for an established commercial mechanical contractor’s new-construction team in Dallas–Fort Worth. The team works primarily on large healthcare projects and needs a Project Manager who can manage project financials, coordinate directly with the field, and help deliver complex mechanical construction work.

This position reports to a Senior Project Manager and works closely with superintendents, project engineers, assistant project managers, and skilled trades leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage commercial mechanical and plumbing construction scopes from planning through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, cost forecasts, schedules, procurement plans, and change-order documentation.
  • Coordinate directly with superintendents and foremen on manpower needs, material deliveries, installation progress, and upcoming work.
  • Review contracts, drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project performance and address cost, schedule, safety, and quality concerns early.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, owners, design teams, vendors, and other trades.
  • Lead project meetings and communicate progress, financial status, and risks to the project team.
  • Support and develop Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers.
Required Qualifications
  • Project Manager experience on commercial mechanical or plumbing construction projects.
  • Experience working for a self-performing mechanical and/or plumbing contractor.
  • Direct experience managing substantial HVAC, piping, or plumbing scopes—not solely overseeing the work of mechanical subcontractors.
  • Responsibility for project budgets, forecasting, cost control, procurement, and change orders.
  • Experience working closely with field leadership and skilled trades on day-to-day project execution.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and schedules.
  • Strong communication, organization, client-facing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work on-site at project locations throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
Preferred Experience
  • Hospital or other healthcare construction.
  • Large, complex new-construction projects.
  • Biotech, pharmaceutical, higher education, central utility plants, or similarly demanding commercial projects.
  • Experience mentoring Project Engineers or Assistant Project Managers.

Healthcare experience is preferred, but it is not required for a strong mechanical Project Manager with the potential to grow into this sector. Candidates with both mechanical subcontractor and general contractor experience are welcome. Experience limited to an owner’s representative, developer, facilities, or GC MEP oversight role will not meet the self-performing contractor requirement.
