Job summary

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading mechanical contractor in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, is seeking an Assistant Mechanical Project Manager / Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of commercial mechanical construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional looking to advance their career with a well-established contractor known for delivering high-quality HVAC, plumbing, and piping projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting project management teams on commercial construction projects and a strong understanding of mechanical systems, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and project documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Managers with the planning, execution, and closeout of mechanical construction projects
  • Support procurement efforts, including material and equipment tracking
  • Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Track project schedules, budgets, and progress reports
  • Attend project meetings and maintain meeting minutes
  • Assist with cost tracking, forecasting, and project reporting
  • Review drawings and specifications for completeness and constructability
  • Help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget
  • Support quality control and project closeout activities
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
  • 1–5 years of experience in construction project engineering, project coordination, or assistant project management
  • Experience working for a mechanical contractor strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical construction systems
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar construction software is a plus
  • Self-motivated with a desire to grow into a Project Manager role
