Job summary

Kistler & Knapp Builders seeks an experienced residential Project Manager who can translate field insights into project leadership. You will partner with Project Supervisors, clients, architects, and subcontractors to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of PM experience with meaningful hands-on construction knowledge, strong communication, and a willingness to work across active sites in Greater Boston and MetroWest.

Kistler & Knapp Builders is looking for an experienced residential Project Manager who brings more than strong project-management skills. We are looking for someone who understands construction from the field up, can support project teams through technical challenges, and wants to build a long-term career with the company.

At Kistler & Knapp, Project Managers are trusted to take ownership. They work closely with Project Supervisors, clients, architects, subcontractors, and company leadership and serve as one of the primary faces of the organization. The company is specifically looking for someone who wants to grow with the business and be part of its long-term trajectory.

The Role

This position is based in the Acton, Massachusetts office, with time spent in the office, some flexibility to work from home, and regular visits to active project sites. Current work spans the Greater Boston and MetroWest markets, including areas such as Newton, Weston, Wellesley, Concord, Dover, and other surrounding communities.

This is not a desk-only Project Manager position. A successful PM needs enough hands-on construction and field understanding to effectively partner with Project Supervisors, recognize issues in the field, ask the right questions, and help work through solutions.

What You’re Do

• Lead residential construction projects while working closely with Project Supervisors and the broader project team.
• Maintain an active presence on project sites and help troubleshoot field and constructability issues.
• Build strong working relationships with clients, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Participate in early client meetings and contribute to the estimating process.
• Help take ownership of project estimates from the early stages of client engagement.
• Support business development and relationship-building efforts, including outreach and communication with architects.
• Collaborate closely with Project Supervisors, who are given significant ownership of their individual projects.
• Represent Kistler & Knapp as a trusted, invested point of contact for clients and industry partners.

What We’re Looking For

• Residential construction background.
• Approximately 5+ years of Project Management experience
• Meaningful field or hands-on construction experience in addition to project-management experience.
• Strong general construction knowledge and the ability to work through field issues.
• Ability and willingness to spend meaningful time on active construction sites.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Experience

• Sales or business-development experience.
• Experience working with or developing relationships with architects.
• Familiarity with the Greater Boston construction and architecture community.
• Procore experience.
• Massachusetts supervisor license, or ability to obtain one.
• College education is helpful but not required when supported by strong industry experience.
