Job description

Who We Are-

Jamail & Smith Construction is a Texas-based commercial general contractor specializing in Job Order Contracting (JOC) and CSP construction services. Since 1982, we have completed more than 7,900 projects and built long-standing relationships with over 80 public entities across Texas.

Our work is primarily focused on K-12, higher education, government, and municipal construction. As our Austin Region continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our team and help us deliver successful projects throughout Central Texas.

About the Job-

As a Project Manager, you'll oversee commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. You'll work closely with clients, Superintendents, subcontractors, design teams, and internal departments to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and moving forward.

We're looking for someone who can manage multiple projects, communicate well with clients and field teams, and take ownership of their work. JOC and public-sector construction experience is a plus.

What You Will Do-

  • Manage projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, cost projections, and documentation.

  • Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams.

  • Prepare estimates, proposals, change orders, progress reports, and cost-tracking reports.

  • Manage subcontractor scopes, contracts, procurement, and performance.

  • Partner with Superintendents to maintain schedule, quality, and safety expectations.

  • Lead project meetings and maintain regular communication with clients and stakeholders.

  • Review plans, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work.

  • Monitor project costs and proactively address budget or schedule concerns.

  • Manage permitting, inspections, and project closeout requirements.

  • Resolve construction issues, delays, and scope conflicts as they arise.

  • Build strong client relationships and support opportunities for repeat work.

What You Bring to the Table-

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of commercial construction experience.

  • Experience in K-12, higher education, government, or municipal construction preferred.

  • Job Order Contracting (JOC) experience is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, estimating, budgeting, subcontractor management, and project documentation.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once.

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Procore or similar construction management software experience preferred.

Why Join Jamail & Smith?

  • Established & Growing: More than 40 years in business with continued growth throughout Texas.

  • Austin Growth: Join a growing Central Texas team and have a direct impact on the region's success.

  • Variety of Projects: Our JOC work means exposure to multiple projects, clients, and scopes rather than spending years on one job.

  • Strong Support: Work alongside experienced operations, preconstruction, project controls, safety, and corporate teams.

  • Meaningful Work: Build and improve schools, universities, and public facilities throughout Texas.
