Jamail & Smith Construction, LP is expanding into Louisiana and seeks an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent for the Baton Rouge market. You will serve as on-site leader for day-to-day field execution, coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and authorities to complete projects safely and on schedule.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of commercial construction, public-sector delivery experience (JOC/IDIQ), and a track record of managing occupied facilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction experience with strong field leadership.
• Experience with Job Order Contracting (JOC) or other fast-paced public-sector delivery methods.
• Experience working in occupied facilities (K-12, higher ed, government) is highly valued.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field preferred; equivalent field leadership experience considered.

Jamail & Smith Construction is expanding into Louisiana, and we’re looking for an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to help build our presence in the Baton Rouge market.

About the Job-

As a Superintendent in Baton Rouge, you will serve as the on-site leader responsible for the day-to-day field execution of assigned construction projects, from mobilization through final completion and closeout. Because much of our work is delivered through Job Order Contracting, our Superintendents must be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where projects may vary in size, scope, complexity, and duration.

You’ll work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, clients, facility personnel, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure every project is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to Jamail & Smith’s quality standards. You’ll also play an important role in establishing our field presence in Louisiana by building relationships with local trade partners and helping create the operational foundation for our continued growth in the Baton Rouge market.

What You Will Do-

• Lead day-to-day field operations from project mobilization through completion and closeout
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspections, material deliveries, and daily jobsite activities
• Manage multiple fast-paced JOC projects and assignments as operational needs require
• Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules while driving overall project milestones
• Coordinate closely with Project Managers on schedules, procurement, RFIs, changes, field conditions, and project risks
• Lead work within occupied K-12, higher education, government, and municipal facilities
• Develop and manage site logistics, phasing, access, shutdowns, temporary protection, and other requirements necessary to minimize disruption to facility operations
• Build productive relationships with Louisiana subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and trade partners
• Champion and enforce Jamail & Smith’s safety expectations and maintain a safe, organized, professional jobsite
• Conduct daily jobsite observations and ensure subcontractor work complies with plans, specifications, contract documents, and quality standards
• Implement and maintain the 3-phase quality control process
• Maintain accurate daily reports, progress photos, manpower information, inspections, and other field documentation in Procore
• Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and participate in owner, architect, and consultant meetings as required
• Proactively identify constructability issues, schedule conflicts, deficiencies, and potential project risks
• Communicate RFIs, field conditions, scope changes, and potential impacts to the Project Manager in a timely manner
• Coordinate material procurement, deliveries, staging, equipment, and site logistics
• Manage inspections and coordinate with applicable authorities and project stakeholders
• Drive punch-list completion and support an efficient project closeout and client turnover
• Maintain strong communication with clients and facility representatives throughout construction
• Represent Jamail & Smith professionally in the field and help establish our reputation throughout the Louisiana market
• Support and mentor Assistant Superintendents and other field team members as the region grows

What You Bring to the Table-

• 5+ years of commercial construction experience with demonstrated field leadership experience preferred
• Experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or in a comparable commercial construction field leadership role
• Experience with Job Order Contracting (JOC), IDIQ, task-order, on-call, or other fast-paced public-sector construction delivery methods strongly preferred
• Experience in K-12, higher education, government, municipal, and/or other public-sector construction preferred
• Experience managing renovation, repair, alteration, and improvement projects in occupied or active facilities is highly valued
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, quality control, safety, and field documentation
• Ability to manage fast-moving projects, changing priorities, and multiple stakeholders
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, scopes of work, and contract documents
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to set expectations, hold subcontractors accountable, and drive project schedules
• Strong communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with construction management technology; Procore experience preferred
• OSHA 30 certification preferred
• Knowledge of the Baton Rouge and/or Louisiana construction market and local subcontractor community is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent commercial construction and field leadership experience will absolutely be considered
