Job summary

Jamail & Smith Construction in Dallas/Fort Worth is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations on public-sector projects delivered through Job Order Contracting (JOC). You will own the jobsite, coordinate trades, and ensure safety, schedule, and quality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction experience.
• Experience as a Superintendent or in a comparable field leadership role.
• Experience with K-12, higher education, municipal, and/or other public-sector construction strongly preferred.
• Job Order Contracting (JOC) experience strongly preferred.
• Experience working in occupied or active facilities is highly valued.
• Dallas/Fort Worth market familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day field operations of assigned projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within project requirements, and to Jamail & Smith’s quality standards.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspections, deliveries, and daily jobsite activities.
• Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules while driving overall project milestones.
• Lead projects in active K-12, higher education, and municipal environments while minimizing disruption to facility operations.
• Coordinate phasing, site logistics, occupied-space requirements, access, and safety controls.
• Champion and enforce Jamail & Smith’s safety expectations and jobsite safety standards.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers, owners, architects, engineers, facility personnel, and subcontractor partners.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, progress photos, manpower tracking, and project documentation in Procore.
• Identify, document, track, and resolve project deficiencies through completion.
• Implement and maintain quality control standards, including the 3-phase QC process.
• Coordinate material procurement, deliveries, staging, and site logistics.
• Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and participate in owner and consultant meetings.
• Proactively communicate RFIs, field conditions, schedule impacts, changes, and potential project risks.
• Drive punch-list completion and an efficient project closeout.
• Build strong relationships with clients and represent Jamail & Smith professionally in the field.
• Support and mentor Assistant and junior Superintendents as needed.

About the Job-

As a Superintendent, you will lead the day-to-day field operations of assigned construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within project requirements, and to Jamail & Smith’s quality standards. Because much of our Dallas work is delivered through Job Order Contracting, successful Superintendents will be comfortable operating in active facilities, coordinating multiple trades, adapting to evolving project conditions, and maintaining strong communication with owners and project stakeholders. You’ll serve as the on-site leader responsible for driving the project forward from mobilization through closeout.

What You Will Do-

• Lead and supervise field operations from project mobilization through final completion and closeout
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspections, deliveries, and daily jobsite activities
• Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules while driving overall project milestones
• Lead projects in active K-12, higher education, and municipal environments while minimizing disruption to facility operations

What You Bring to the Table-

• 5+ years of commercial construction experience with demonstrated field leadership experience
• Experience as a Superintendent or in a comparable field leadership role
• Experience with K-12, higher education, municipal, and/or other public-sector construction strongly preferred
• Job Order Contracting (JOC) experience strongly preferred
• Experience working in occupied or active facilities is highly valued
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, quality control, and jobsite safety
• Ability to manage fast-moving projects, changing priorities, and multiple stakeholders
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to hold teams accountable while maintaining productive working relationships
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with construction management technology; Procore experience preferred
• OSHA 30 certification preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent field experience will also be considered
• Familiarity with the Dallas/Fort Worth subcontractor and construction market is a plus
