Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Building Science, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • PM I: 4+ years in commercial construction management on multiple projects up to $5,000,000.
  • PM II: 6+ years in commercial construction management on multiple projects up to $10,000,000.
  • PM III: 10+ years in large, complex facility construction up to $30,000,000.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own schedule, budget, quality, safety, and relationships on assigned projects with the Superintendent.
  • Plan and coordinate all construction aspects to manage risk.
  • Manage subcontractors, contracts, client expectations, disputes, procurement, pricing, and schedules.
  • Understand contracts and contract documents; oversee work to fulfill all terms.
  • Lead, train, and develop project team members.
  • Organize and lead regular meetings with owners, team, subs, and leadership.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships.

Jamerson-Lewis Construction is seeking Project Manager candidates at the PM I, PM II, and PM III levels. This full-time role may be based out of our Lynchburg, VA office or at a Jamerson-Lewis project site in the surrounding area. Each level has responsibility and ownership for managing construction projects, with project scale and leadership expectations increasing by level.

Responsibilities Across All Levels
  • Own the schedule, budget, quality, safety, and relationships of assigned construction projects in partnership with the Superintendent.
  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of the construction process to effectively manage risk.
  • Manage subcontractors, contract negotiations, client expectations, dispute resolution, material procurement, pricing, and schedules.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of the job contract and contract documents, oversee the work, and ensure all aspects of the contract are successfully fulfilled.
  • Lead, train, and develop project team members.
  • Organize and lead regular meetings to communicate relevant information to owners, team members, subcontractors, and Jamerson-Lewis leadership.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current and potential clients.

  • Experience in client-facing roles and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to perform in a demanding growth environment while maintaining a commitment to quality and performance across all projects.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive sense of urgency.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, plus working knowledge of or a willingness to learn Bluebeam, ProjectSight, and Viewpoint Vista.
Experience, Education, & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Building Science, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Project Manager I: 4+ years of experience in commercial construction management managing multiple construction projects up to $5,000,000 in value.
  • Project Manager II: 6+ years of experience in commercial construction management managing multiple medium-scale construction projects up to $10,000,000 in value.
  • Project Manager III: 10+ years of experience in large, complex facility construction, including on-site management of new construction and renovation of existing structures up to $30,000,000 in value.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.

This is a salaried position. Candidates will be considered for the level that best aligns with their experience and qualifications.

Working Conditions:

Construction and office setting, full time. Must have the ability to crawl, climb, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, crouch, stand for long periods of time, lift and hold more than 50 lbs., talk, hear, and occasionally sit. Must have the ability to withstand confined spaces and/or extreme heights while performing tasks safely for themselves and others. Subject to hot, cold, humid, and wet conditions depending on location.
