Job summary

Sedgman is seeking a Project Estimator to drive estimating activities across complex engineering studies and projects. This role can be based in Phoenix, Vancouver or Montreal, offering exposure to North American mining projects.

You will prepare cost estimates, lead collaboration with engineers and stakeholders, maintain estimating databases, and track estimating activities. The position requires 10+ years of mining/engineering estimating experience and mastery of risk assessment tools.

Qualifications

• 10+ years estimating experience in mining/engineering/construction.
• Experience with AACE Class 1–5 estimates.
• Proficiency with risk tools like @Risk.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong organizational skills and multi-project coordination.
• Ability to collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams.

Job description

Sedgman is currently recruiting for a ProjectEstimator, with hands-on experience driving estimating activities across complex engineering studies and projects. This person can be based out of our Phoenix, Vancouver or Montreal offices.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, for studies/projects, ensuring alignment with time, cost, and quality targets.
• Lead and collaborate with engineers, and stakeholders to develop estimates and risk assessments.
• Maintain and improve estimating systems, databases, templates, and cost records, including final design take-offs.
• Track, report, and manage estimating activities.
• Establish, maintain, and continuously improve estimating databases, price books, templates, and spreadsheets.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating risk management processes and tools.

What are we looking for? Qualifications:

• 10+ years’ experience estimating within engineering or construction environments in the mining industry
• Experience in developing estimates from AACE Class 1 to Class 5.
• Experience with @Risk or similar risk management software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including high-level proofreading and document quality control
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate estimates for multiple studies/projects simultaneously
• Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders and cross-functional teams when developing cost estimates
• Experience with estimating systems, databases, and continuous improvement initiatives
