Job summary

Sedgman in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Process Engineer to support our design and engineering teams. You’ll contribute to studies, design calculations, and client-facing support to deliver high-quality mining projects.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years of process design experience, an engineering degree, and PE licensure eligibility in Arizona. The role requires collaboration, problem-solving, and occasional travel to site locations in the Americas.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mineral Processing, Metallurgy or Chemical Disciplines) required.
  • 2–5 years of work experience; process design experience preferred.
  • Eligible to register with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration for PE licensure.
  • Knowledge of process engineering, equipment and technologies.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work in a team.
  • Willingness to travel to mine sites; some secondments may occur.
  • Must be eligible to work in USA without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide process design support through PEA, PFS, FS, conceptual and detailed design phases.
  • Perform studies on operational site improvements and modifications.
  • Develop and promote effective use of operations systems (JDE, SPRS, Synergy, Aconex, SMS, Dochub).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process issues.
  • Develop process flow sheets and set process design criteria.
  • Prepare process calculations, PFDs, heat and material balances and P&IDs.
  • Size process equipment and develop specifications.
  • Coordinate with other departments for safe, efficient operations.
  • Stay updated with mining processing tech and advise on new equipment or processes.

Sedgman is hiring ! We are currently seeking a Process Engineer for our Phoenix, AZ. office. The selected candidate will provide process engineering support to Sedgman design and engineering team, helping deliver high quality projects to clients. As part of the process team, daily involvement in calculations, drawings, reviews, reports, modelling and client support activities will be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide process design support through the engineering phases PEA, PFS, FS, conceptual design, front-end engineering and detailed design.

Perform studies into operational site improvements and modifications

  • Develop, improve and promote the effective use of operations systems (i.e. JDE, SPRS, Synergy, Aconex, SMS, Dochub)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process issues.
  • Develop process flow sheets and prepare process design criteria.
  • Prepare process calculations, PFDs, heat & material balances and P&IDs.
  • Size process equipment and develop specifications.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in mining processing technology and recommend implementation of new equipment or processes
  • Additional duties as required
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mineral Processing, Metallurgy or Chemical Disciplines)

With 2 – 5 years of work experience; process design experience preferred

Must be eligible to register with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration to obtain the Professional Engineer licensing (P.E.).

Knowledge of process engineering, equipment, and technologies

  • Good communication skills with well-developed written and oral skills.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.

Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Must be able to travel to Mine sites, which may include some secondments

Must be eligible to work in USA without sponsorship
