Job summary

DPR Construction in Austin, TX is seeking a capable Construction Engineer to support Self-Perform Work (SPW) on complex projects. You will review drawings, monitor production, track materials and maintain field records to ensure SPW scope and schedules stay on track.

You will collaborate with SPW crews, project managers and subcontractors, supporting QA and safety and contributing to continuous improvement of SPW processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in construction engineering, project engineering, or a related field.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred; OSHA 30 program completion within 6 months of hire is required.
• Experience reviewing contract drawings, specs, and submittals for SPW scopes.

Responsibilities

• Assists in reviewing contract drawings, specifications, and submittals for SPW scopes, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with project and crew requirements.
• Collaborates with SPW project managers, superintendents, and project teams to resolve standard technical questions related to self-perform scopes of work.
• Monitors SPW activity schedules and budgets, tracks labor productivity, and reports variances to support timely corrective actions for self-perform operations based on established guidelines.
• Supports the implementation of standard SPW-specific quality assurance and safety protocols throughout all phases of self-perform work.
• Prepares and maintains detailed SPW project documentation, including daily SPW crew reports, time and material logs, equipment usage records, and field change documentation.
• Identifies opportunities for incremental improvements in SPW processes and contributes to the development of leading practices with guidance.
• Actively participates in SPW coordination meetings and communicates field progress, production rates, and any issues to SPW crews, project managers, and other stakeholders.
