Job summary

Midwest Drywall Co Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to support the execution of commercial construction projects, focusing on field operations and jobsite coordination related to framing and drywall.

The role collaborates with Field Superintendents, Project Managers, and Estimators to drive progress, ensure quality, safety, and schedule adherence. You will spend significant time in the field acting as a bridge between jobsite and office, developing toward a Project Manager role while traveling

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of experience in construction, project coordination, or related field (internship acceptable).
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge or interest in light gauge framing and drywall systems.
  • Procore, Bluebeam, and MS Office proficiency or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Support Field Superintendent, Project Managers, and Estimators in daily execution of projects and bids with strong jobsite presence.
  • Coordinate field activities including manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor progress to ensure work aligns with plans, specs, and schedule.
  • Promote safety culture through active participation in jobsite safety efforts.

Position Summary

The Project Engineer will support the execution of commercial construction projects with a strong emphasis on field operations and jobsite coordination as it relates to framing, drywall, and more. This role works closely with the Field Superintendents, Project Managers, and Estimators to help drive project progress, ensure quality and safety standards, and maintain schedule and budget alignment.

The PE will spend significant time in the field supporting daily operations, acting as a key link between the jobsite and office, while developing the skills needed to grow into a Project Manager role.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Field Superintendent, Project Managers, and Estimators in the day-to-day execution of projects and bids, with a strong presence on the jobsite
  • Assist in coordinating field activities including manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Monitor jobsite progress and help ensure work is performed according to plans, specifications, and schedule
  • Promote and reinforce the company’s safety culture by actively participating in jobsite safety efforts and observations
  • Serve as a liaison between field teams and the office to ensure clear communication and timely issue resolution
  • Assist with layout verification, material tracking, and coordination of deliveries to maintain workflow
  • Track and help manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and daily reports
  • Participate in jobsite meetings and assist in documenting key updates and action items
  • Support schedule updates and help identify potential delays or conflicts in the field
  • Assist with project cost tracking by verifying field quantities, labor productivity, and material usage
  • Help identify and communicate field issues, risks, and constructability concerns, working with leadership to develop solutions
  • Support preconstruction efforts as needed, including takeoffs and scope reviews, with a practical field perspective
  • Travel regularly between job sites to support ongoing projects
Requirements, Skills & Qualifications
  • 0–3 years of experience in construction, project coordination, or a related field (internship experience applicable)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, but not required
  • Basic knowledge or strong interest in light gauge framing and drywall systems
  • Proficiency in software such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office (or willingness to learn)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Willingness to learn and grow into a Project Management role
  • Must be willing to travel between job sites
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Licenses, Certifications, and Training
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Preferred: OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30
Safety Responsibilities
  • Follow all Midwest Drywall safety policies, site-specific safety rules, and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Use required personal protective equipment and immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, or injuries.
  • Partner with Safety and operations subject-matter experts to ensure training accurately reinforces current safe-work practices; deliver technical or safety instruction only within verified qualifications and approved content.
