Highland Consulting Group is assisting a regional mechanical contractor in Newport News, VA, in hiring an experienced Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer who will handle commercial/industrial mechanical projects focusing on piping, plumbing, and sheet metal. The role involves supporting the Project Manager, coordinating submittals, RFIs, change orders, and budget controls.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in similar roles and a track record of project management success,

We are working with a Regional Mechanical Contractor in the Newport News, VAarea, that is recruiting for an experiencedAssistant Project Manager or Project Engineer.Do you have experience with commercial mechanical systems? We are recruiting successful candidates that preferably have a 3 years experience or more as an Assistant Project Manager working with Commercial or Industrial Mechanical projects.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Assist the Project Manager in managing and supervising all phases of assigned projects
• Manage the submittal process
• Respond to or create RFI's as needed
• Assist in negotiating all change orders and maintain change order logs
• Work with the Project Manager to manage the project budget and approve all expenses
• Interface with the Owner on all projects assigned
• Assemble and maintain complete project records and close-out documents
• Prepare and manage schedules
• Work with the Project Manager to perform project punch-list inspection(s), in coordination with superintendent and the Owner’s Representative, and issue punch list to all relevant subcontractors
• Estimate change orders
• Contract administration
• Assist in the Buyout of subcontracts & equipment
