Highland Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer in the Newport News, VA area to oversee commercial mechanical projects. You will work with piping, plumbing, and sheet metal while advancing toward formal Project Management responsibilities.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of experience on large-scale mechanical projects, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and coordination across disciplines.

• 3+ years experience as an Assistant Project Manager on commercial/industrial mechanical projects.
• Experience with piping, plumbing and sheet metal.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to manage timelines, budgets, and multi-discipline meetings.

Responsabilidades

• Assist the Project Manager in managing and supervising all phases of assigned projects.
• Manage the submittal process and respond to RFIs as needed.
• Assist in negotiating change orders and maintain change order logs.
• Work with the Project Manager to manage the project budget and approve expenses.
• Interface with the Owner on projects assigned and prepare close-out documents.
• Prepare and manage project schedules and punch lists with subcontractors.
• Oversee contract administration and Buyout of subcontracts & equipment.

We are working with a Regional Mechanical Contractor in the Newport News, VA area, that is recruiting for an experienced Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer. Do you have experience with commercial mechanical systems? We are recruiting successful candidates that preferably have a 3 years experience or more as an Assistant Project Manager working with Commercial or Industrial Mechanical projects.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Assist the Project Manager in managing and supervising all phases of assigned projects
• Manage the submittal process
• Respond to or create RFI's as needed
• Assist in negotiating all change orders and maintain change order logs
• Work with the Project Manager to manage the project budget and approve all expenses
• Interface with the Owner on all projects assigned
• Assemble and maintain complete project records and close-out documents
• Prepare and manage schedules
• Work with the Project Manager to perform project punch-list inspection(s), in coordination with superintendent and the Owner’s Representative, and issue punch list to all relevant subcontractors
• Contract administration
• Assist in the Buyout of subcontracts & equipment

Job requirements

• Solid communication skills - both verbal and written

• Experience in cost estimation and negotiating
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to lead productive, multi-discipline meetings
• Solid, proven and verifiable record of career stability and project management success a must
• Experience: 3 years experience as an Assistant Project Manager with large scale projects preferred
