Job summary

Goodfellow Bros Inc. in Livermore, CA is seeking a Project Engineer Intern for summer 2027. Under supervision, you will apply academic knowledge to real-world construction tasks, learning what a GBI project engineer does daily.

This paid 12-week internship offers hands-on experience in layout, form design, subcontract monitoring, change orders, plan checking, and a range of supporting duties, with travel may be required and a path to professional growth.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have the legal right to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related major, from an accredited university.
• Travel may be required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager/Project Engineers/Estimators with all construction-related duties.
• Perform a variety of physical and mental tasks on construction projects.
• Assist in tracking work hour utilization and productivity.
• Maintain up-to-date files or library of material suppliers, current labor laws, equipment rental rates and qualified subcontractors by category.
• May assist field personnel in a variety of manual tasks on construction projects.
• May coordinate material deliveries and subcontract work in accordance with progress schedule and adjust as necessary due to changes.
• Prepare cost breakdowns and reviews with Project Engineer and Project Manager for concurrence.
• Prepare periodic completion data for job cost report and monitor printouts to correct posting and other errors.
• Prepare data for monthly invoices, pay estimates, and submit to Project Engineer/Project Manager in a timely manner.
• Ensure that submittals are received, submitted and processed; supervise submittal of control data.
• Prepare special reports as requested by Project Engineer and/or Project Manager.
• Review timecards daily and communicate discrepancies to payroll clerk.
• Answer the phones and perform other clerical work.

PositionSummary

• Assurethatdetailsandsubmittalsarereceived,submittedandprocessed.Supervisesubmittalofcontroldata.
• PreparespecialreportsasrequestedbyProjectEngineerand/orProjectManager.
• Reviewtimecardsdailyandcommunicateanydiscrepanciestothepayrollclerk.
• Answerthephonesandperformsotherclericalwork(suchasscreeningtelephonecalls,takingaccuratemessages,faxing,copyingandfiling).

• 12-weekpaidinternshipswithpayrangeof$22to$27hourly.
