Job summary

Goodfellow Bros Inc. on the Micron campus in Boise, ID, invites a Project Engineer Intern for summer 2027. Under supervision, you will apply academic knowledge in a real-world setting and assist with construction-related duties.

You will help with layout, form design, subcontract monitoring, change orders, plan checking, and document control while learning day-to-day activities of a GBI project engineer. Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in construction management or civil

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s degree in construction management or civil engineering.
• Legally eligible to work in the US.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager/Project Engineers/Estimators with construction duties.
• Assist in tracking work hour utilization and productivity.
• Maintain up-to-date file of material suppliers, labor laws, and subcontractors by category.
• Assist field personnel with manual tasks on construction projects.
• Prepare data for monthly invoices and pay estimates.
• Review timecards and communicate discrepancies to payroll.

Position Summary

AsanEngineeringIntern,youhavetheopportunitytoapplyyouracademicknowledgeandtraininginareal-worldsetting.UndersupervisionofaProjectEngineer,ProjectManagerorEstimator,youwillbeassistingwithconstruction-relateddutiesincludinglayout,formdesign,andsubcontractmonitoring.Youwillalsobeassistinginchangeorderpreparations,planchecking,documentcontrol,qualitycontrolandsafetymonitoring.ThisexperiencewillhelpyoutolearnwhataGBIprojectengineerdoesonadailybasis.

Position Description

• AssistProjectManager/ProjectEngineers/Estimatorswithallconstructionrelatedduties.Performavarietyofphysicalandmentaltasksonconstructionprojects.
• AssistProjectEngineerandProjectManagerintrackingworkhourutilizationandproductivity.
• Maintainup-to-datefileorlibraryofmaterialsuppliers,currentlaborlaws,equipmentrentalratesandqualifiedsubcontractorsbycategory.
• Mayassistfieldpersonnelinavarietyofmanualtasksonconstructionprojects.
• Ordersuppliersandothermaterials,asneeded.
• Maycoordinatematerialdeliveriesandsubcontractworkinaccordancewithprogressscheduleandadjustasnecessaryduetochanges.
• MayresolveorassistProjectEngineerand/orProjectManagerinresolving,designanddetailproblemswithowners,designagencies,suppliersandsubcontractors.
• Mayattendsubcontractorjobmeetingsandotherconstructionmeetings
• Preparecostbreakdown,reviewswithProjectEngineerandProjectManagerforconcurrenceandmakesadjustmentsasnecessary.
• Prepareperiodiccompletiondataforjobcostreportandmonitorprintoutstocorrectpostingandothererrors.
• Preparedataformonthlyinvoices,forcedaccountsheets,payestimates,monthlyincreases,back-charges,ifapplicable,andsubmitstoProjectEngineerand/orProjectManagerinatimelymanner.
• Assurethatdetailsandsubmittalsarereceived,submittedandprocessed.Supervisesubmittalofcontroldata.
• PreparespecialreportsasrequestedbyProjectEngineerand/orProjectManager.
• Reviewtimecardsdailyandcommunicateanydiscrepanciestothepayrollclerk.
• Answerthephonesandperformsotherclericalwork(suchasscreeningtelephonecalls,takingaccuratemessages,faxing,copyingandfiling).

Compensation and Benefits

• 12-weekpaidinternshipsstartingat$22to$25hourly.

Required Education, Experience, and Technical Knowledge

• CandidatesmusthavethelegalrighttoworkintheUSwithoutemployersponsorship.
• Mustbecurrentlypursuingabachelor’sdegreeinconstructionmanagement,civilengineering,orrelatedmajor,fromanaccrediteduniversity.
• Travelmayberequired.
• Validdriver’slicenseisrequired.
