Job summary

Goodfellow Bros Inc invites applications for a Project Engineer Intern to join our Livermore, CA team for the summer of 2027. Under supervision of a Project Engineer, Project Manager or Estimator, you will apply academic knowledge to real-world construction tasks and learn how a GB I project engineer operates on a daily basis.

You will assist with layout, form design, subcontract monitoring, change orders, plan checking, document control, quality, and safety monitoring, gaining practical

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering.
• Legal right to work in the US without employer sponsorship.
• Travel may be required; valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager/Project Engineers/Estimators with construction duties such as layout, form design, and subcontract monitoring.
• Help track work hour utilization and productivity.
• Maintain up-to-date files of material suppliers, labor laws, equipment rental rates, and subcontractors by category.
• Assist field personnel with manual tasks on construction projects.
• Coordinate material deliveries and subcontract work per schedule and adjust for changes.
• Attend subcontractor meetings and assist in documenting decisions.

PositionSummary

AsanEngineeringIntern,youhavetheopportunitytoapplyyouracademicknowledgeandtraininginareal-worldsetting.UndersupervisionofaProjectEngineer,ProjectManagerorEstimator,youwillbeassistingwithconstruction-relateddutiesincludinglayout,formdesign,andsubcontractmonitoring.Youwillalsobeassistinginchangeorderpreparations,planchecking,documentcontrol,qualitycontrolandsafetymonitoring.ThisexperiencewillhelpyoutolearnwhataGBIprojectengineerdoesonadailybasis.

• Mayattendsubcontractorjobmeetingsandotherconstructionmeetings
• Preparecostbreakdown,reviewswithProjectEngineerandProjectManagerforconcurrenceandmakesadjustmentsasnecessary.
• Prepareperiodiccompletiondataforjobcostreportandmonitorprintoutstocorrectpostingandothererrors.
• Preparedataformonthlyinvoices,forcedaccountsheets,payestimates,monthlyincreases,back-charges,ifapplicable,andsubmitstoProjectEngineerand/orProjectManagerinatimelymanner.
• Assurethatdetailsandsubmittalsarereceived,submittedandprocessed.Supervisesubmittalofcontroldata.
• PreparespecialreportsasrequestedbyProjectEngineerand/orProjectManager.
• Reviewtimecardsdailyandcommunicateanydiscrepanciestothepayrollclerk.
• Answerthephonesandperformsotherclericalwork(suchasscreeningtelephonecalls,takingaccuratemessages,faxing,copyingandfiling).

CompensationandBenefits

• 12-weekpaidinternshipsstartingat$18to$25hourly.

RequiredEducation,Experience,andTechnicalKnowledge
