Goodfellow Bros Inc in Livermore, CA is seeking a Project Engineer Intern for Summer 2027. Under supervision of a Project Engineer, you will assist with layout, form design, change orders, plan checking, document control, quality control and safety monitoring to support daily project activities.

Responsibilities include assisting with project scheduling, cost breakdowns and coordination with subcontractors, plus data entry for monthly invoices and submittals.

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related major.

• Track work hour utilization and productivity.
• Maintain up-to-date file of material suppliers, labor laws, equipment rental rates and qualified subcontractors.

PositionSummary

AsanEngineeringIntern,youhavetheopportunitytoapplyyouracademicknowledgeandtraininginareal-worldsetting.UndersupervisionofaProjectEngineer,ProjectManagerorEstimator,youwillbeassistingwithconstruction-relateddutiesincludinglayout,formdesign,andsubcontractmonitoring.Youwillalsobeassistinginchangeorderpreparations,planchecking,documentcontrol,qualitycontrolandsafetymonitoring.ThisexperiencewillhelpyoutolearnwhataGBIprojectengineerdoesonadailybasis.

EssentialFunctions

• AssistProjectManager/ProjectEngineers/Estimatorswithallconstructionrelatedduties.Performavarietyofphysicalandmentaltasksonconstructionprojects.
• AssistProjectEngineerandProjectManagerintrackingworkhourutilizationandproductivity.
• Maintainup-to-datefileorlibraryofmaterialsuppliers,currentlaborlaws,equipmentrentalratesandqualifiedsubcontractorsbycategory.
• Mayassistfieldpersonnelinavarietyofmanualtasksonconstructionprojects.
• Ordersuppliersandothermaterials,asneeded.
• Maycoordinatematerialdeliveriesandsubcontractworkinaccordancewithprogressscheduleandadjustasnecessaryduetochanges.
• MayresolveorassistProjectEngineerand/orProjectManagerinresolving,designanddetailproblemswithowners,designagencies,suppliersandsubcontractors.
• Mayattendsubcontractorjobmeetingsandotherconstructionmeetings
• Preparecostbreakdown,reviewswithProjectEngineerandProjectManagerforconcurrenceandmakesadjustmentsasnecessary.
• Prepareperiodiccompletiondataforjobcostreportandmonitorprintoutstocorrectpostingandothererrors.
• Preparedataformonthlyinvoices,forcedaccountsheets,payestimates,monthlyincreases,back-charges,ifapplicable,andsubmitstoProjectEngineerand/orProjectManagerinatimelymanner.
• Assurethatdetailsandsubmittalsarereceived,submittedandprocessed.Supervisesubmittalofcontroldata.
• PreparespecialreportsasrequestedbyProjectEngineerand/orProjectManager.
• Reviewtimecardsdailyandcommunicateanydiscrepanciestothepayrollclerk.
• Answerthephonesandperformsotherclericalwork(suchasscreeningtelephonecalls,takingaccuratemessages,faxing,copyingandfiling).

CompensationandBenefits

• 12-weekpaidinternshipswithpayrangeof$22to$30hourly.

RequiredEducation,Experience,andTechnicalKnowledge
